Dependent Memberships
Dependents of members may obtain a membership to UREC. In accordance with the requirements set forth by Seattle University Human Resources, to be considered a dependent, an individual must meet the following criteria:
A dependent is an individual who is an unmarried dependent up to age 26 (as defined by IRS regulations) who is one of the following in relation to the member:
- natural child
- stepchild
- foster child
- legally adopted child
- child for whom the sponsor is the court appointed guardian
- child of LDA, if eligible, and if the LDA is also a sponsor
- Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in cardio, strength and fitness areas
The following restrictions apply
- Children under the age of 16 cannot obtain a membership independent of the sponsor and will not be issued a separate membership card. Instead, the sponsor's card will include information denoting that he/she has a dependent under the age of 16 who has a membership to the facility.
- Children 4 years of age and younger do not require any type of membership to utilize the facility, but they must be supervised by their sponsor at all times.
Documentation Required
No documentation is required to register a dependent under the age of 16 for a membership. Those dependents 16 years of age or older must provide documentation verifying their age upon initial enrollment or when they turn 16 and want to acquire their own membership ID. Acceptable documentation includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Driver's License
- Birth Certificate
- Adoption Certificate
*If at any time the sponsor loses his/her membership to the facility, the dependent(s) also forfeits his/her membership.
Family Memberships
A member can purchase a Family membership if they have 2 or more dependents or LDA’s seeking UREC membership. The sponsor of the family must be eligible for a membership on their own and must hold or purchase a membership in order for the family membership to be created.
Pricing example: If you are an alumni and have 2 dependents who would like memberships, you can sign up for the family membership. First, you will need to purchase an Alumni membership ($42/month) then, you can purchase the family membership which will grant membership to both of your dependents ($74/month). Therefore, for you and your 2 dependents the monthly cost will be $116.
Same documentation is required as the Dependent and LDA memberships.
*If at any time the sponsor loses his/her membership to the facility, the dependent(s) also forfeits his/her membership.
Sponsored Guests
UREC members may sponsor up to four guests at a time for a cost of $10 per person per visit. Each individual must have a photo ID and must enter the facility with the member. Other restrictions apply.
